Our Care & Community Project in Nepal is based in the Kathmandu valley - an area rich in ancient temples reflecting the country's great wealth of culture and tradition. Although one week is relatively short, it gives you the opportunity to make a significant difference in children’s lives as well as your own.
Volunteers will spend their time providing care and support to children at a care centre. You will be a welcome pair of helping hands for local staff and they will appreciate your time and effort. With the children, you will be able to make an impact simply by playing games with them, giving them individual attention, and organizing creative activities such as arts and crafts.
Part of your day will also be spent doing important renovation work at the centre, such as painting a mural on a neglected wall or putting in a new floor. These activities are vital, as they will contribute toward improving the children’s quality of life.
You will discover another culture as you explore and learn more about this great country. You will stay in a hotel close to the areas where you are working and will participate in evening activities planned by our local staff. These could include enjoying a social dinner with all of the other volunteers and participating in a cooking class where you will learn how to prepare traditional local cuisine.
