A Projects Abroad Physiotherapy internship in Vietnam gives interns the opportunity to contribute to a developing country where specialized rehabilitation services are limited and many patients do not have access to basic treatment. If you are an enthusiastic student training to become a physiotherapist you will provide vital support to the staff, children, and/or adults.
In Vietnam, you will be placed in a rehabilitation centre. These centres provide therapeutic and practical help for mentally and physically disabled children, as well as educational training and medical care. Adults who suffer from the consequences of war also get a variety of help.
You will work alongside one of the local staff and depending on your experience you may be given groups of children or adults to work with independently. You may even be asked to work with your own individual patients and could spend some time passing on your skills to fellow staff.
All Medicine & Health Care interns in Vietnam must have completed at least one year of pre-medical or other health care related studies by the time they join this project.
Interning Abroad as a Physiotherapist in Vietnam with Projects Abroad
At whichever placement you find yourself, you will go home safe in the knowledge that you have made a lasting contribution to one of these projects and the people it serves. This internship is also a chance to improve your resume, offering practical experience that may be difficult to get at home while helping the children and adults you are working with abroad.
The location of your placement will determine what kind of accommodation you will stay in. You will be able to explore the area and spend your free time with other volunteers.
You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Vietnam Medicine & Healthcare Management Plan
Physiotherapy internships in Vietnam are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local medical staff.
