Projects Abroad Human Rights Office - Cape town - Monthly reports - December 2010

It has been a quiet month for PAHRO as the numbers of volunteers decreased and the Christmas and New Year period caused many businesses and schools that we work with to be closed. This meant that many of our social outreach programmes have been unable to operate throughout December

However the Sports Day that was being organised by one of our volunteers last month took place at the beginning of December and all volunteers went along and took part. A number of games were played with just over 100 children from Khayelitsha. We were able to secure food donations so that all the children were fed as well as receive a food parcel to take home with them to their families.

  • Bonnytoun – For the first part of December volunteers continued to visit Bonnytoun and interact with the boys there. However as volunteer numbers dwindled visits had to be postponed until a new intake of volunteers arrived in the New Year.

We look forward to welcoming new volunteers in 2011 and being able to get our projects up and running again.
