Ga Language Courses in Ghana
In Ghana, expand your experience of living in a different country by learning the Ga language, and further immerse yourself in one aspect of Ghana’s rich and dynamic culture. Ga is spoken by around 600 000 people in the country and is a widely understood language in Accra.
You can practice your new language skills with staff and people from the community at your placement, with your host family during meals or haggle over the price of fruit with shop owners at the local market.
This language add-on is available to volunteers based in Dodowa, Ghana. On arrival in Ghana, after you’ve settled in and met your host family and placement staff, you’ll be introduced to your language tutor. During this meeting, you will schedule your weekly timetable. With your private tutor you will decide on the structure of your lessons. Together, you’ll work on the outline of each tutoring session based on your interests and language level.
All of our volunteers in Ghana live with a host family. You’ll share the house with volunteers from around the world and sit down to meals prepared by your host family. Weekends and free time will be spent exploring Ghana, practicing your new Ga skills and building friendships with volunteers and locals that will last a lifetime.
Alternatively you can undertake a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour language course in Ga. This course runs alongside your main volunteer project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your project. For more information please visit our Language Add-on page.
