Learn English in Mexico

Projects Abroad volunteers meet up with local students on a campus in Guadalajara, Mexico.

It is easy to understand why Mexico is such a popular destination for travellers: it is a meeting-place of cultures and the country is modern, industrialized, and filled with history. This makes it a wonderful destination for everyone interesting in developing their language skills and learning about another culture first-hand.

On the English Language Course in Mexico, you will receive one-on-one lessons with a qualified local language teacher. When you arrive, you will be assessed and taught accordingly based on your level, whether you are a beginner or have an advanced level of English. The course includes an average of 15 hours of instruction per week, Monday to Friday.

Outside of class, you will have plenty of time to explore your surroundings and you can practice your conversation with your host family, members of the local community, and other Projects Abroad volunteers. Projects Abroad volunteers come from a huge variety of countries and backgrounds, including Europe and North America, and spending time with them is a fantastic opportunity to practice and experience cultural exchange!

The course can be taken in three different locations: Guadalajara, Ciudad Guzman, and Cuyutlán. You can choose a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour course in English. These courses are tailored to your needs and run alongside your main volunteer project or internship. This is extremely useful if English is not your first language and if English skills are required for your project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your volunteer experience.
