Learn English in Kenya

Projects Abroad volunteer learning English goes on a trip with staff and other volunteers in Kenya.

With its diverse wildlife, landscapes, and cultures, Kenya is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in travelling abroad. By joining a Projects Abroad English Language Course, you have the chance to add to your own skills while experiencing life in this East African country! English is an official language in Kenya and is widely spoken in commerce, schooling, and government, so there will be plenty of opportunities for you to practice.

The English Language Course in Kenya involves one-on-one lessons with a qualified local language teacher. When you arrive, you will be assessed and taught accordingly based on your level, whether you are a beginner or have an advanced level of English. Additionally, you can ask for your lessons to be tailored to your interests as well. The course includes an average of 15 hours of instruction per week, Monday to Friday.

Outside of class, you will have a lot of free time to explore your surroundings and you can practice your conversation with your host family, members of the local community, and other Projects Abroad volunteers. Projects Abroad volunteers come from various countries and backgrounds, including Europe and North America, and spending time with them is a wonderful opportunity to experience cultural exchange!

Alternatively, you can undertake a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour course in English. These courses are tailored to your needs and run alongside your main volunteer project or internship. This is extremely useful if English is not your first language and if English skills are required for your project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your volunteer experience.
