Sri Lanka faces many challenges with its development and endemic poverty continues to be a serious issue. As a volunteer in Sri Lanka with Projects Abroad, you will work alongside other volunteers to make a positive impact on the lives of local children. You will be based in various care facilities, such as kindergartens and centres for children with special needs.
During your two weeks abroad, you will help with early childhood development and basic learning. This will involve taking part in day-to-day activities at your placement, give the local teachers a helping hand, and get involved in arts and crafts, playing games, and singing. We encourage you to use the resources at your disposal to make every day fun and stimulating for each child!
If you are interested in learning more about our Care Project in Sri Lanka, you can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Sri Lanka Care Management Plan.
In Sri Lanka, you will live with a host family which promises a richer cultural experience. For a full Sri Lankan adventure, you will also visit well-known monuments such as Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and travel to to Kandy and the Elephant Park.
This project is available to ages 18-25. If you are a high school student and first-time traveler, you may want to consider our High School Special in Sri Lanka.
