Learn English in the Philippines

Overview

Local people celebrate a festival in the Philippines, Asia.

The Philippines is the ideal destination for anyone interested in improving their English. In the Philippines, English is an official language and is commonly used in government, education, media, and business. Participating in the English Language Course gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in an English-language environment and develop your knowledge and conversational ability.

On the English Language Course in the Philippines, you will receive one-on-one lessons with a qualified local language teacher. When you arrive, you will be assessed and taught accordingly based on your level, whether you are a beginner or have an advanced level of English. The English Language Course includes an average of 15 hours of instruction per week, Monday to Friday.

Outside of class, you will have plenty of time to explore your surroundings and you can practice your conversation with your host family, members of the local community, and other Projects Abroad volunteers. Projects Abroad volunteers come from a huge variety of countries and backgrounds, including Europe and North America, and spending time with them is a fantastic opportunity to practice and experience cultural exchange!

Alternatively, you can undertake a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour course in English. These courses are tailored to your needs and run alongside your main volunteer project or internship. This is extremely useful if English is not your first language and if English skills are required for your project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your volunteer experience.
