Although many rural communities are still greatly affected by poverty and lack many modern amenities, Ghana is one of the most stable and economically advanced countries in Africa. Projects Abroad offers a range of volunteer projects and internships in Ghana, including an English Language Course. This course is suitable for anyone looking to develop their English-speaking ability, either as a standalone project or as an addition to volunteer work.

On the English Language Course in Ghana, you will receive an average of 15 hours of instruction per week, Monday to Friday. These classes focus on a variety of elements, including grammar and conversation. Depending on when you arrive, the classes may be private lessons or you may be in a small group with two or three other volunteers. Outside of class, you will have plenty of time to explore your surroundings and you can practice your conversational skills with your host family and other Projects Abroad volunteers. Projects Abroad volunteers come from a huge variety of countries and backgrounds, including Europe and North America, and spending time with them is a fantastic opportunity to practice cultural exchange!

Alternatively, you can undertake a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour course in English. These courses are tailored to your needs and run alongside your main volunteer project. This is extremely useful if English is not your first language and if English skills are required for your project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your volunteer project.
